Trying NYX For The First Time | My Thoughts ♡

Being into make-up, you'd think that I would've actually tried out NYX Cosmetics before now, but nope - that's not the case. I'm definitely more of a Collection kind of gal, so I have always pretty much stuck to my comfort zone and stayed in the Collection aisle of drugstores. However, after hearing how many people love and rave about NYX Cosmetics, I had to try it out for myself!

Because I haven't tried NYX out before, I thought it was only right that I do an entire Blog post dedicated to my first thoughts on the products I try out :) So hopefully this post will help other people interested in NYX products or wanting to try NYX Cosmetics out for the first time, by recommending my fave products and truthfully reviewing them!...

NYX HD Finishing Powder (£9.00)
So my first thoughts on this powder were that the price is a little above what I'd like to pay for a finishing powder. But, after using this powder for the first time I can honestly say that this product is worth every penny. It applies so nicely to the face, blending my make-up smoothly and accurately - sitting comfortably on top of my make-up rather than spreading it around.
I do often find that finishing powders can start moving all my make-up around which then makes my make-up smudge, however I have never faced this problem with this powder, as it leaves a smooth finish and acts as a protective layer rather than being absorbed. I will definitely be using this powder again it adds such a nice finishing glow to my face.

NYX HD Concealer (£6.00)
This concealer is really creamy and I honestly am so in love with it. The texture is thick and not at all watery which is a problem I sometimes find in liquid concealers. This concealer is very light on the skin and absorbs really, really well. It doesn't take me long to blend the concealer into my skin, and I even sometimes apply two layers because it's not at all cakey.
The consistency is dewy and it makes my skin look so glowing and smooth, I'd even go onto say it gives my skin that 'flawless' effect. The one thing I would say, however, is that wand concealers don't seem to last an awful lot, and after just 3 uses I am already beginning to run out of this concealer - so there definitely isn't a whole lot of product in the tube. But putting that aside, it's not an expensive concealer so of course I would buy this again and recommend it! I'd just say buy a few so you're fully stocked :)

NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator (£8.00)
Before discovering NYX Born To Glow, I surprisingly had never actually used a liquid highlighter before! I have always been so used to using powdered highlight, like Technic, but when I used this liquid illuminator for the first time I instantly fell in love. The texture is very creamy and light on the skin, and really easy to blend.
My skin instantly absorbed the highlight and it left an amazing shimmer on my skin. Once blended in, my skin looked so glowing, fresh and bright. The pearly, shiny colour looked so amazing on my skin, especially when the light caught it. I have never completed a make-up look now without using this highlight mixed in with my foundation! I also go over it with a powder highlight too, but I can for sure notice the difference with it on and it's honestly incredible.. it makes me feel like a highlight queeeeen!

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick (£7.00)
I decided to try out the Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks because I usually only go for lip gloss. I know that might sound boring, but ever since I started doing my make-up I have always used lip gloss for my lips, so it's strange for me to use anything but gloss! So I decided to get something different and change things up a bit. I went for two complete contrasting colours - a brown, nude colour vs. a bright, pastel purple. Now I don't usually wear a bright lip, but I really did get tempted because I wanted to try it out. The brown is definitely more 'me', but I also was really pleasantly surprised by the purple because I think it made my lips look really full, and also really pretty!
The texture is very creamy and thin, but without it being watery. It's not a thick texture but it's not watery and runny - kind of just in the middle. It's quite lightweight, but it did take a few applications of layers for the colour to become fully pigmented and as bright as I would've liked. Once on, they did both last a very long time and didn't need re-application for a good few hours! I was really impressed by the wear, and they also seemed to be very anti-smudge which is always a great thing, especially when you're addicted to food like me.

Question: ♡
Which is your favorite shade out of the 2 lipsticks below?...

♡ So there are my genuine and honest reviews of the NYX Cosmetics Products that I tried for the first time ever! I really hope you enjoyed this post and that it helped those of you looking for some new NYX products to try, or interested those who are just curious to see my opinions on the products! I will definitely be using NYX again and I wish that I had found them sooner. I would say to anyone who is like me and only usually sticks to one make-up brand, go and experiment like I did with NYX and I'm sure you'll find more amazing products that you never thought you'd try! Make sure to let me know in the comments which lipstick shade you like the best, and also if you've ever tried NYX before & your thoughts on the brand. Thank you so much for reading...

  2. Ooo never tried a NYX illuminators before, that glow looks incredible. If you haven’t already tried them, I would recommend the NYX lip lingeries, good dupe for Kylie lip kits and other high end liquid lipsticks

  3. Surprisingly, I’ve still never tried NYX! I’ve just always felt that the prices were a bit expensive for a “drugstore” brand, hence why I’ve never tried it. The products do sound good though, especially the concealer! I normally use cheap powders, such as the MUA one for £1, but it can move my makeup. The lip creams you have are so pretty, but I especially like sandstorm xxx

    1. Yess, this is exactly how I was feeling! But I took the plunge and I am honestly so glad I did :) The concealer is great, and as for the powder it sits rather than moves your make-up as you say, so the NYX powder may be worth the investment for you! Thankyou for your amazing comment and feedback, I really appreciate it xxx
